Vietnam – Life Essentials Study Bible Initiative

Objective: Equip 5,000 Vietnamese pastors and church leaders across North, Central, and South Vietnam with the Life Essentials Study Bible in Vietnamese, fostering deeper Biblical understanding and pastoral effectiveness.

Context: Vietnam, a country with a rich cultural heritage and a centralized communist government, is home to 54 distinct ethnic groups. Its societal structure is deeply hierarchical and honor-driven, with historical influences from both China and France. Despite challenges, the church in Vietnam continues to grow and seek resources that support sound Biblical teaching.

Partnerships:

This initiative is a collaborative effort between:

  • Bible Society of Vietnam
  • Dr. Gene Getz
  • Center for Church Renewal
  • MucVu – Vietnam Mission
  • Million Bible

Together, these partners have completed typesetting and are preparing for the production of the first 5,000 Vietnamese Life Essentials Study Bibles, each containing 1,500 life principles rooted in both the Old and New Testaments.

Key Components:

  • Bible Production: First print run of 5,000 Vietnamese Life Essentials Study Bibles.
  • Distribution Strategy: Launch to pastors and leaders across Vietnam in Spring 2026.
  • Training & Support: Equip pastors with resources and training to effectively use the Study Bible in preaching and teaching.
  • Budget Allocation: Each Bible costs approximately $50 USD, covering publishing, warehousing, distribution, and training.

Outcomes:

  • Provide the first pastoral resource of its kind in Vietnam.
  • Strengthen Biblical literacy and pastoral unity across denominations.
  • Empower leaders with a clearer, more cohesive understanding of Scripture.

Global Impact:
The English version of the Life Essentials Study Bible has already reached over 14,000 leaders in Uganda and Kenya. Feedback from pastors highlights its supra-cultural and supra-denominational value, enabling more effective ministry.

Call to Action:
Please join us in prayer for this transformative initiative in Vietnam.

Project 1: Uganda & Kenya Bible Distribution Initiative

Objective: Distribute 50,000 – 75,000 Bibles to people in churches who can't afford and desire their own bible in 10 – 12 districts in Uganda and 2-3 districts in Kenya, promoting Biblical literacy through strategic partnerships with churches and networks.

June 2026 Update: We are seeing an incredible hunger and thirst for God’s Word as we expand into southwestern Uganda and western Kenya. Interest and engagement continue to grow in both countries.

During the most recent training week in Uganda, nearly 6,000 leaders and individuals received a shepherded Bible. We have increased the number of trainings through in-country partnerships.

Looking ahead to March 2027, Lord willing, we anticipate placing Bibles in every district of Uganda through partnerships with Africa Bible Ministries Uganda, Africa Bible Ministries USA, the Bible Society of Uganda, and Million Bible.

Key Components:

  • Bible Distribution: Supply Bibles to students in collaboration with local church networks and educational institutions.
  • Geographic Focus: 10–12 districts in Uganda to continue expanding the work beyond the 102 districts reached already and Kenya identified through partner churches and school cooperation.
  • Partnerships: Mobilize church-based networks for logistics, outreach, and coordination.
  • Budget: $600,000

Outcomes:

  • Equip leaders and Sunday school teachers with personal copies of the Bible.
  • Strengthen the spiritual foundation of each trained recipient.

Project 2: Uganda, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria - School Bible Distribution Initiative

Objective: Lay the groundwork for sustainable Bible engagement in schools by developing training resources and Biblical curriculum for educators in the four countries, while meeting the government requirement for Bible teaching.

Distribute and subsidize 1,000,000 Bibles to students in public and private schools across districts promoting Biblical literacy through strategic partnerships with schools, educators and partner churches who volunteer their support in the schools.

June 2026 Update: As of May 1, 2026, Bible distribution has begun in schools in Uganda and Kenya. Partnerships in Malawi and Nigeria are established and ready to activate. We continue to pray for the resources needed to scale this project.

Key Components:

  • Curriculum training: culturally relevant teaching materials aligned with educational standards.
  • Teacher Training: Host training workshops and distribute teaching guides to support educators.
  • Budget Allocation: Included within the $3,750,000.
    • Training and certification of teachers
    • Subsidies to students to afford a generational bible

Project #3 Madagascar – Partner with a Diocese strong in discipleship and evangelism.

Objective: Work in collaboration with the Anglican Diocese in South Madagascar providing 7000-10,000 Bibles for those being trained in discipleship and evangelism. There are youth groups, women’s groups, men’s groups, leader’s groups, all working with a lot of excitement and accountability towards a strong Gospel presence in Madagascar. This will serve as a pilot in one of the 5 Dioceses of Madagascar and as we test and learn, expand to the other Dioceses while incorporating trainings with other Evangelical Churches in the region.

June 2026 Update: Bibles are scheduled to be printed and shipped by the end of August 2026, arriving by mid-October. A team is preparing to collaborate with the Bible Society of Madagascar, the Anglican Church, Million Bible, and local churches in Toliara. Project launch is planned for January 2027.

Key Components:

  • Bible Distribution: Work in coordination with the Bishop and training teams for an effective pilot amongst the selected audiences.
  • Partnerships: Build a stronger partnership with the Bible Society of Madagascar and the Church for National impact.

Outcomes:

  • A church that has the word of God in their hand and as African’s say “have God with them” is foundational to effective growth and transformative actions.
  • An equipped church is prepared to go forth and share the Gospel with confidence as they refer to God’s Word in their hand as their authority and strength.

Project #4 Cuba - Equip a rapidly growing, passionate Church with much-needed Bibles.

With over 100 denominations in the country, the churches are in need for solid biblical training and resources. But the primary resource needed is The Bible. With recent access to have Bibles available in the country has been a game changer for the Gospel cause. We are seeing hundreds of baptisms as more and more people are responding to God’s Word as they read it for themselves.

June 2026 Update: The first 2,000 of 10,000 Bibles have been distributed. Demand continues to grow, especially for children’s Bibles. Plans are underway to ship 15,000 children’s Bibles from Brazil for a major distribution initiative in eastern Cuba. The full process—from publishing to delivery—takes approximately nine months.

Key Components:

  • Bible Distribution: It’s beautiful to see people embrace the Bible like a long-lost relative returning home. They cling to every word—an unforgettable sight as God answers prayers decades in the making.
  • Geographic Focus: 16 provinces
  • Partnerships: Mobilize church-based networks for logistics, outreach, and coordination.
  • Budget: $960,000

Outcomes:

Continue to see more and more people respond to the Gospel by engaging God’s word personally and in family as well as with their neighbors.

Project #5 Uruguay, Paraguay and Bolivia – There is a great need for Bibles in this region.

Prisons and remote mountain regions are crying out for God’s Word. In one of Paraguay’s most violent prisons, the warden now requests Bibles after witnessing a remarkable transformation through regular teaching of Scripture. Where gatherings once led to brutal violence—even decapitations—there now stands an inmate-led church.

June 2026 - Update: This project shows strong potential, and we continue to pray for the right timing and resources.

Key Components:

  • Bible Distribution: Continue to work with the Networks and relationships that open the door for prisons, schools, and government for the Bible to be placed in the hands of each person in the country.
  • Partnerships: Mobilize bible societies in each country for logistics, outreach, and coordination.
  • Budget: $500,000,000

Outcomes:

Thanks to the ongoing work of national Bible Societies, strong partnerships and networks have formed to help spread the life-changing power of the Gospel through God’s Word.
